Hi Juliana,
No, but my sister has fibro and me RA, that old rubbish gene pool thing. I think they can often be bedfellows and that there are people on here who do have both? I'm sure they'll be in touch. I know someone with RA and polymyalgia but that's a different kettle of fish again.

Juliana, I have both RA and fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with FM last summer. It is hard to know where the pain is coming from, as I was told by my consultant that when you have both its very difficult to distinguish one from the other. I do know for definite that my foot problems are RA related, but my other pain, who knows????

I know thats not much help, but its probably best to read up as much as you can, and then discuss it at your next appointment. Sorry you have both, they do seem to go hand in hand quite often, as if an autoimmune disease isnt enough!!!!Sad

Hi Juliana, Yes I have both, it really is bad luck having both isn't it. Like Barbara too, we both take drugs for each. Glenys.

Hi

Yes I have the fibro- its on me list of RA related thingies... (yawn!)

I found out because I was waking up after a long sleep and not feeling as if I had slept at all!

Also the pressure points check- nearly went through the roof. TBH I am never very convinced about this diagnosis because the RA makes the sheaths around tendons and muscles swell too and makes you fatigued. I do know others with "just" fibro who are very unwell at times with this alone.

must be tough being a rheumatologist!

I found this website handy

Hi Julianna, I've just been diagnosed with FM alongside RA ( which I've had for 2 years now). Also have hypothyroidism so a full set;-). My knees are the real problem with the FM and my hands and wrists with the RA. The fatigue with both is such a problem (particularly as I have a very active 2 year old!!) and I also get very regular headaches which are so disabling. I really feel for you as it's just adding insult to injury isn't it? The old saying of start each day afresh is what I try to do to keep myself going. I wish you all good things and hope you start feeling better really soon.

Thank you everyone

I was really worried at one stage as I wasnt getting any better fron the RA drugs and wondered what was wrong with me.. The consultant has stopped my RA drugs for the moment in order to determine or treat the FM soley.. I feel better for not taking them and I am concentrating on getting quality sleep.. It seems to be working and now I can tell the difference between the pains, which is a good thing Smile
